This course is intended to provide participants with the following general educational and vocational outcomes:
• Assess the need for blood products using evidence/guidelines
• Identify and manage risk relating to blood and blood products
• Identify and manage adverse transfusion reactions to achieve best possible patient outcomes
• Identify key factors associated with the history that has shaped transfusion medicine into current practices
• Ability to source information and utilise evidence based research outcomes to influence practice in their work area
• Apply quality systems, principles and issues relating to blood and blood products when reviewing blood product management processes
• Contribute to and/or participate in governance processes and procedures
• Audit current processes and determine improved practices for implementation
• Identify and implement practice improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing blood management
• Contribute to and/or implement change management processes in their work area
• Generate ideas and solutions for complex problems
• Use high level leadership and communication skills
• Identify or develop networks and build relationships with key stakeholders
• Apply strategies to persuade and influence internal and external stakeholders
