11094NAT - Course in Providing Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Palliative Care Support

This course is designed to provide graduates with a vocationally relevant short course statement of attainment in palliative care support in community and residential settings for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
The proposed course addresses a significant gap in culturally safe practice in palliative care support for individuals and communities.
It will provide participants with a range of knowledge, and skills to:
• provide and advocate for culturally safe care and services
• care for people with life-threatening or life-limiting illness and/or normal ageing process within a palliative approach in a residential or community context
• contribute to the development, implementation, evaluation and communication of a care plan for individuals with life-threatening or life-limiting illness and/or normal ageing process in a team environment using a palliative approach.
• recognise and respond to the needs of people who are experiencing loss, grief and bereavement.
