10665NAT - Certificate IV in Payroll Administration

This course is intended to provide participants with a range of knowledge and skills to perform in various payroll related job role(s), such as:

• Payroll Officer
• Payroll Clerk
It is intended that participants who complete this course would be able to perform the following functions / duties in the workplace:
• Full function payroll, including:
o Calculating hours worked (including overtime) as per Awards and / or Agreements
o Calculating gross and net payments owing to employees (including statutory and voluntary deductions and allowances) in accordance with Awards and / or Agreements as well as the NES
o Payment of net wages to employees within statutory deadlines
o Calculation and payment of superannuation payments according to statutory requirements
o Preparation of payment summaries for end of financial year, including annual report for ATO
o Reporting of payroll related data to ATO on activity statements
o Maintain employee and other payroll related records in accordance with statutory requirements
• Provide support in the workplace regarding industrial relations matters
• Process a range of online transactions
• Develop and implement a range of policies and procedures relating to payroll
• Identify payroll related risks and provide strategies for management of such risks
• Prepare a variety of complex documents
• Work in accordance with relevant work health and safety requirements
• Prioritise workload according to personal, team and company goals
• Ensure effective workplace relationships are maintained within the team.

It is also intended that participants who complete this course would be able to perform the following specialized functions / duties in the workplace:
• Calculate termination payments in accordance with statutory requirements
• Calculate reportable fringe benefit amounts to be reported on employee payment summaries, as well as amounts to be reported and paid to the ATO on annual FBT return
• Calculate and report payroll tax in accordance with state / territory requirements.
